Lucknow: In order to make life of the Tribes slightly more eased out, the State Government is preparing a complete action plan for the economic development of the community. To set the ball rolling on this humongous task, a team of self-help groups is being created from within the community to benefit them with some help coming from the central and state government schemes.
A state with a Tribe population of 11.34 lakhs (as per 2011 census), it is 0.56 percent of the total population of the state, which is much higher than many states. With people belonging to the tribe deprived of the government’s schemes, much is required for them. The Tribes are known for the craftsmanship in the field of beautiful wood products but lacks a complete system of branding and sales.
In the first phase, the government has decided it will conduct special campaigns in Balrampur, Sonbhadra, Lalitpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri. These groups will then be connected to the market place.
Further taking the plan to the next level will be five forestry centers approved in Sonbhadra and Lalitpur to help the tribes. The number of which will be increased as time progresses. The task is being undertaken by the Forest Corporation and Tribal Development Department.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the plan is also to train guides and guards for skill development of the people of the tribe. There are plans to purchase 87 minor forest products at minimum support price. An arrangement of Rs. 3.20 crore has been made for this. Forest products will be purchased and converted into a good product by supporting packaging and marketing.
