Lucknow: In order to encourage the youth of the state towards badminton, Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu, who created history by winning a bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020 was honored by Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association Chairman Viraj Sagar Das and President Dr. Navneet Sehgal at BBD UP Badminton Academy.
In the felicitation ceremony, Chairman of Badminton Association of Uttar Pradesh Viraj Sagar Das, President of Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association Dr. Navneet Sehgal, General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association Arun Kumar Kakkar and Treasurer Dr. Sudharma Singh and others were present.
PV Sindhu’s father PV Ramanna and mother P. Vijaya were also present in the felicitation ceremony. Remembering the dedication towards Badminton, PV Sindhu’s father PV Ramanna and mother P. Vijaya were rewarded by Viraj Sagar Das (Chairman, UP Badminton Association) by Dr. Navneet Sehgal (President, UP Badminton Association).
After the award, PV Sindhu met budding shuttlers of BBD UP Badminton Academy and taught them to play a lot with hard work. He said that with dedication, move forward only with practice. With this, in the coming times, you too can bring glory to your country by winning medals.
PV Sindhu has become the first badminton player and second athlete from India to win two consecutive Olympic medals. PV Sindhu won silver medal in Rio Olympics-2016 followed by bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics-2020.
