Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that a player creates his identity through his hard work and effort. He also creates the identity of the society, district and state through sports. His identity depends on his consistent practice. Work done with team spirit and hard work always brings good results. He said that every victory inspires us to move forward. Every defeat also provides new inspiration to correct one’s shortcomings.
The Chief Minister expressed his views after concluding the Brahmalin Param Pujya Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj Fifth All India Prize Money Men’s Kabaddi Competition-2023 in Gorakhpur district and inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh Rural Sports League (UPRSL). On this occasion, he observed the final competition of Kabaddi competition and also distributed prizes to the winners.
The Chief Minister said that Kabaddi is the identity of India. Many Kabaddi players of the state have brought glory to the country and the state with their sporting prowess. In the Kabaddi competition held , the team which had teamwork, practice and planning was continuously scoring points. The players who participated in the final held here today and the players of other teams of this competition deserve thanks.
The Chief Minister said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been a rapid increase in sports activities in the country in the last nine years. Many efforts have been made for this, the results of which are in front of all of us. The state is also continuously benefiting from these efforts. This can be gauged from the number of players participating in the Olympic, Commonwealth and Asian Games and the number of medals won. Due to their hard work and encouragement from the government, the players are continuously performing well. The results of these efforts were seen in the Asian Games, where India won more than 100 medals for the first time. The number of medals in the last Asian Games was 70. In these games, players of the state won more medals than their number.
The Chief Minister said that the Uttar Pradesh Rural Sports League, which started , will be organized through development block level competitions in all the 826 development blocks of the state, district level competitions in all the districts and zone level competitions in all the zones. It will provide a platform to the youth through sports competitions like athletics, kabaddi, volleyball, football, weightlifting, judo etc., which will work to advance them.
The Chief Minister expected from the Sports Department that the prize money received by the winners of the Kabaddi competition this year should be doubled from the next time. In this, sports and players will get further encouragement. To take forward such programs rapidly, Uttar Pradesh Rural Sports League competition has been launched today. This competition will be conducted in 03 categories. Its prize money will also be good. This will encourage good players in the state. It can participate in any competition to its full potential.
The Chief Minister said that the Government of India is continuously contributing to encourage sports. The state government is also making various efforts at its level. In the last few years, awareness about sports has arisen with the encouragement of society and government. This also aroused the interest of the players. Today the results of all this are in front of us.
The Chief Minister said that the government is trying to have a stadium in every district. In rural areas, the work of having a mini stadium in every development block and a playground in every village is being taken forward. Every Gram Panchayat has also been directed to make arrangements for open gym for women and men in the village with its own funds. Along with organizing Khelo India and MP sports competitions, Khelo India Sports Centers have also been set up at the district level. With all these efforts, sports activities are being taken forward. Good results are coming.
The Chief Minister said that today there has been a significant increase in sports infrastructure facilities in the state. At present there are two international cricket stadiums in the state. The construction work of an international stadium is being done on war footing by BCCI in Varanasi. 15 synthetic hockey stadiums, 83 stadiums, 03 synthetic running tracks, 67 multipurpose halls, 06 shooting ranges, 02 judo halls, 11 wrestling halls, 42 state-of-the-art gym equipment, 16 hostel buildings etc. are available in the state. Efforts are being made continuously to promote sports activities through these institutions.
The construction work of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut is also going on at a fast pace. Good coaches have also been hired for training the players of the state. To encourage the players, the process of appointing players who have won medals in international competitions to gazetted posts is also being taken forward. Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to provide appointment to about 500 players who have won medals for the country and the state in various competitions.
Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, today the state is touching the heights of development in every field and is doing historic work in the field of sports. Sports Policy-2023 has been made under the leadership of Shri, through which high level facilities for players, stadiums at district level, mini stadiums at block level and playgrounds at Gram Panchayat level will be built. This work has started at a rapid pace. The state government has a clear intention that all the facilities will be provided to all the talented players of the state, so that they do not face any difficulty in honing their talent.
