Lucknow: Vegetable and fruit production is increasing rapidly in UP. The state’s share in this has increased from 7.2 per cent to 9.4 per cent. On the other hand, the production of mango and banana is increasing, while the production of potato-tomato has also increased. According to the production value of vegetables and fruits, UP ranks fourth in the country, but West Bengal, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are still ahead in this.
The special thing is that the share of banana in fruits has increased from 8.7 percent to 9.2 percent in the country. But still the share of mango is more than 10 percent. In this way both the consumption and production of fruits have increased.
As far as vegetables are concerned, potato is the most produced of the whole country. which is 7.3 percent. The share of onion is 6.4 percent and that of tomato is 6.1 percent.
According to the Central Government’s Report on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Production – 2022, the above facts have come to the fore. The state has recorded a record production of food grains every year. UP is also ahead in pulses production.
