Lucknow: Coming out of a pandemic, it was but natural for the Yogi Adityanath government to take health as a priority area in the state budget. In order to gift the state capital a Suraksha kavach of sorts, the budget this year has ensured focus is not shifted from the health of the people.
The state government has rewarded the capital’s medical institutions in the budget for the efforts made in the prevention of Corona. Not only has the government increased the budget of KGMU, SGPGI and Lohia Institute, many projects have also been approved to prevent infections.
This is being seen as a means to curtail Corona and other deadly diseases. A total provision of Rs.2600 crore has been made for various items.
This time a complete arrangement has been made in the budget to improve the health of the people at the block level. Under this, one public health unit will be set up in all the eight blocks in the capital.
A Urban Health Center will be established in the urban area. People hence will not have to wander for vaccinations and other facilities in urban areas. Similarly the budget has been increased in Ayushman and Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandan Yojana will also benefit.
Wellness centers are being opened by the government in the entire state including the capital for two years. This time a provision has also been made in this budget.
To add much needed teeth to the health scenario in the state, an Institute of Virology and Infectious Diseases will come up at KGMU.
Two crore rupees have been given for diabetic retinopathy treatment center at KGMU.
A BS4 Lab is to be setup at KGMU, along with a BS3 Lab at SGPGI and an Advanced Diabetes Center at SGPGI.
There will be Public Health Units in all blocks, an Arogya Kendra in an urban area.

- Ram Manohar Lohia Institute: 492 Crore
- AB Medical University: 100 crore
- For various hospitals in the capital: 100 crores
- Budget for arthritis treatment center: 23 lakh
- Ayurvedic and Unani Medicine Workshop: 73 lakhs
- For Homeopathy: 2.5 Crore
