Lucknow: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is preparing to increase the share of the state in the agricultural products exported from the country to increase the income of the farmers. For this, through the Global Investors Summit (UP GIS 2023), the government will try to ensure an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in the field of food processing, dairy and animal husbandry. The agricultural products of U.P. will be branded and promoted in other countries including America, so that foreign investors show interest in investing in these sectors of the state as well.
The stake is slated to increase from 15 to 20 percent
In fact, a large population of UP is still dependent on the agriculture sector. In such a situation, the major focus of the government engaged in improving the economy of the state is also on this sector. CM Yogi wants that with the increase in the income of the farmers of the state, their standard of living should be better. This is the reason that dividing the agricultural products of the state into three sectors, two separate categories of milk products and processed meat have been created.
At the same time, agricultural products are divided into the category of rice, wheat and fruits and vegetables. Till now, Uttar Pradesh’s share in wheat and rice exported from India is only 2-2 percent. At the same time, 4 percent of fruits and vegetables, 7 percent of milk products and 55 percent of processed meat products. The government has prepared a five-year roadmap to increase the state’s share in their exports by 15 to 20 percent.
Benefit to farmers, traders associated with milk and processed meat
In this regard, more than 3 crore farmers, milk and processed meat traders of the state are said to be benefited by getting the green signal from the Chief Secretary level of the proposal prepared on the instructions of CM Yogi. To achieve the target of increasing exports by 20 per cent, the government will encourage farmers to increase the production of crops. For this, agricultural diversification will be promoted.
Along with this, apart from weather information to the farmers, mapping of crops, Krishak Agri will also tell in detail about the use of drones. By forming a group of smallholder farmers at the block level, they will be told how to increase production. Farmers will be made self-sufficient in pulses, oilseeds and coarse cereals.
Branding of UP products in seven more countries
A major part of UP’s agricultural, milk and processed meat products are currently reaching exclusively in 15 countries of the world. The state government has selected seven more countries to increase the share of exports of the products. In all 22 including selected new countries, the government will promote to increase the demand for various agricultural products of the state. Apart from road shows in many countries for UP GIS-2023, branding of products through exhibition and other means will be done vigorously in the respective countries.
