Ultrasound centers malpractice on Government Radar

Lucknow: Efforts are now being made to tighten screws on ultrasound centers that check the sex of an unborn baby. To check that social evil, the informer scheme is being started where people who give the address of the gender testing centres will be rewarded. Adequate budget has been released for the informer scheme under the National Health Mission (NHM).

It should be implemented effectively in the state said Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. Health department officials should not take any kind of negligence in this, he added. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak gave these instructions to the CMOs of all the districts of the state. The Deputy Chief Minister said that ultrasound should be used to detect the disease.

It is a crime to identify the sex of the unborn child. 60 thousand rupees will be given to the informer. The Deputy CM directed that if rules are found to be ignored, the ultrasound machines should be sealed. Government of India, launched the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) on 25 June 2015.
