Under BJP rule, loot and murder have gone down drastically: Amit Shah

LUCKNOW: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said incidents of loot and murder have come down in Uttar Pradesh. Attacking,  Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, he advised him to “go home and check the data”.

Shah said, “I was listening to Akhilesh Yadav’s speech on TV, where he says crime has increased. He said – Akhilesh ji, from where did you get the glasses? Which glasses do you use? I have brought a comparison between Yogiji and your 5 years. Robbery has reduced by 70% under Yogi Sarkar.

“There has been a 69 per cent reduction in the incidents of looting through weapons. Killings are reduced by 30%. Dowry deaths have come down by 22.5%.” The Home Minister further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has ensured a ‘riot-free’ state whereas in the previous government there were many riots in which youth were killed.

Amit Shah said, “PM Modi has done what the country could not do in the last 70 years. He abrogated 370 from the constitution. He provided justice to Muslim women by abolishing triple talaq. Samajwadi Party used to joke on us in 2014 that Ram Mandir will be built, but will not tell tithes but now a grand Ram Mandir is being built.

Amit Shah’s remarks came when he laid the foundation stone of Maa Shakumbhari Devi University in Behat assembly constituency of Saharanpur a few months before the state assembly elections.

Earlier, in the 2017 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party had won 312 of the 403-seat Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won 47, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP). 19 seats were won and Congress could manage only seven seats. Rest of the seats were occupied by other candidates.
