Under the newly formed National Educational Policy, Universities being given an impetus to take up research work

Lucknow: Under the National Education Policy 2020, to encourage/promote research work in the colleges located in the state, detailed guidelines were circulated by the mandate dated November 05, 2021 regarding allowing the facility of research guidance to the teachers of all postgraduate and graduate departments.  There was a provision in the said mandate that such regular and full-time teachers who have done Ph.D. and have published at least 05 research papers in the Referred General, would be able to direct research.

The educational organizations of the colleges demanded from the Deputy Chief Minister that according to the standard prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 02 research papers should be published instead of 05 in the reference journals for the teachers of the colleges, they should be allowed for research guidance.

Accepting the demands of educational organizations, Deputy Chief Minister  Dinesh Sharma directed to issue orders as per the arrangement laid down in the UGC Regulations.

In this regard,  Monica S. Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department informed that in order to encourage/promote research work in the colleges located in the state, research guidance will be done by the teachers of all postgraduate and graduate departments on the basis of the standards set by UGC. Any regularly appointed Professor of a Deemed University, who has published at least 05 research in a referenced journal and a regular Associate/Assistant Professor of a University/Deemed University Institution/College holding Ph.D. Research publications have been published, such teachers will be able to direct the research.

Detailed guidelines in this regard have been issued vide Government Order dated 06-01-2022.
