University of Lucknow climbs up the rankings to make it into Top 500 of Asia.
Lucknow: The prestigious international comprehensive rankings, EduRank were released today for 2023. University of Lucknow has once again made an impressive mark in these rankings. University of Lucknow the top ranked state university in Uttar Pradesh. It ranks 4 amongst the state, 28 in country and amongst top 500 in Asia.
University of Lucknow has steadily climbed up the ranking staircase. From being ranked 57 in the country in 2021 to 29 in 2022 and 28 in 2023, University of Lucknow has improved steadily. There has been a meteoric rise in international rankings, with University of Lucknow moving from Asia rank of 1098 in 2021 to 596 in 2022 and into top 500 (rank 463) in 2023.
Research quality and impact of the university is visible in these rankings at the national and international stage. The research fields of Zoology (rank 3), Computational chemistry (rank 6) and Astrobiology (rank 10) feature amongst the top 10 in the country. At a global level seven research areas featured in top 500 with Computational Chemistry ranked at 258, Horticulture at 279, Physical Chemistry at 381, Toxicology at 406, Biology at 438 Botany at 478, and Paleontology at 498. 54 of our notable alumni were also found to make a global impact.
EduRank is an independent metric-based ranking of 14,131 universities from 183 countries. The rankings are primarily based on scientific publications and citations across 246 research topics. Non-academic prominence and alumni popularity indicators are also factored into the calculations.
The continuous rise of University of Lucknow in the rankings has been possible only because of the conducive and supportive academic atmosphere of the university and the state. The BOOST programme, initiated by VC, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, for promotion of research activities in the university has had an undeniable impact on the research atmosphere of the university. In addition to this the continuous emphasis of the Honourable Governor on improving the rankings of state universities has also provided much needed encouragement and push.
