Lucknow: State’s Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma said that urbanization is increasing rapidly in the country. After the formation of the Yogi government, the development of cities has accelerated. Now from the park to the funeral site are being built in the urban bodies.
He said that one-third of the country’s population is now living in cities. In urban life, work has to be done on a war footing to ensure that everyone gets a clean and pollution-free environment and systematically operated services. He said that by the year 2027, out of the country’s $ 5 trillion economy, the state has to make one trillion dollar economy, in which urban bodies will have a significant contribution.
Urban Development Minister AK Sharma today inaugurated a one-day workshop organized in the Directorate of Urban Bodies to discuss with the executive officers of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats to meet the new challenges in the era of urbanization, in which all-round development of cities.
There was a detailed discussion on Development and Ease of Life. During this, Minister of State for Urban Development Rakesh Rathore Guru was also present. Addressing the workshop, he said that it is our new experiment to discuss important projects in the workshop, how to complete development works and projects in a systematic manner so that maximum number of people benefit from it. Said that we have to work with the resolve that if UP changes, the country will change. We have to develop the cities of the state as icon cities, where the quality of life is good and also attractive to the people.
AK Sharma said that when a person coming from outside goes to a new city, he is impressed by the cleanliness and order there. With this thinking, we all have to move forward the development works. He said that the coming one month is for all the urban bodies to do more and more work. During this, special attention should be paid to cleanliness, efforts should be made to avoid seeing piles of garbage in cities. People should not see filth during festivals so that there is a clean environment. He said that now the word ‘dirt’ has to be removed from the cities. This time Diwali should be celebrated in a clean environment, efforts should be made from now on. After Dussehra, Ravana named dirt has to be burnt. He directed that the development works of all 756 urban bodies of the state would be ranked for which a database should be prepared. From October 02, the work done of all the urban bodies will be tested. He asked all the executive officers to leave the workshop with a resolution to change the face of the state.
Urban Development Minister AK Sharma launched Sugam, E-Salary, CM Nagar Srijan Yojana Portal and SVM Talk UP YouTube channel under digital platform in the workshop during the programme. During this, he also held a public hearing as per the arrangement of the “Sambhav” portal and had a virtual dialogue with the complainants. In the public hearing, he heard the complaints of Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur city, problems like water logging, non-cleaning of garbage, street lights, water supply and resolved them on the spot. He also directed the officials that serious efforts should be made to ensure that such problems do not arise again.
In the workshop, Advisor, Urban Development Department, Keshav Verma said that the development of the state will have an impact on the entire country. A systematic urbanization promotes economic growth. A systematic and clean urbanization is necessary to promote investment as well. He talked about creating clusters for SolidBest Management and has to accelerate the pace of work to beautify the cities despite the challenges of urbanization and modernization. He said that the schemes should be implemented according to the situation of Uttar Pradesh and by taking them on the ground, they will have to move towards the coordinated development of the cities.
Principal Secretary Urban Development Shri Amrit Abhijat said that this workshop has been organized for the systematic development of cities and to implement the plans on the ground. He gave the formula of Triple-C (Competition, Collaboration, Conceive) and One-T (Technology).
A lot has changed in the last 20 years, he said. The development has gained momentum due to urbanization and industrialization. This can be further accelerated by better use of technology. He said that in order to speed up the development works, the works have to be done by taking revolutionary steps by being disciplined. Under the able leadership of the Chief Minister, the boundaries of urban areas are expanding and the entire attention of the government is focused on the development of the cities.
Director Urban Bodies, Neha Sharma informed that 500 executive officers including chairman of municipal councils, city panchayats and mayors of municipal corporations are participating in the workshop. Workshop was organized to prepare a detailed module of development of cities and to bring it to the ground and important schemes were discussed in detail. He said that in the workshop, contribution of Urban Development Department in achieving 01 trillion dollar economy by 2027, operational guidelines related to 15th Finance Commission, PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, Swachh Bharat Mission-2.0, AMRUT-2.0, Drinking Water Survey, Plastic Discussions and discussions were held on topics related to Best Management, Mukhyamantri Nagar Srijan Yojna, Kanha Gaushala, funeral site, DCCC, Sambhav, 1533. Necessary action plans for the all-round development of the cities were also discussed.
