Urban Development Minister instructs action  on war footing to deal with waterlogging and communicable diseases caused by rain

Lucknow: Urban Development Minister  AK Sharma has directed the officers to work on a war footing to deal with waterlogging and subsequent communicable diseases across the state. He was addressing the officers from the Directorate of Municipal Bodies to the level officers of the municipal bodies across the state through video conferencing. Minister AK Sharma said that in view of the rainy season, we have to be more careful and vigilant. He ordered that proper arrangements should be made to get rid of the problem of water logging across the state. Also, there is a risk of spreading communicable diseases after such a season. Special arrangements should be made for this. He especially directed the Municipal Commissioners of Lucknow and Kanpur to pay special attention to water logging.

Along with this, he was also asked to take the cooperation of the district administration. He said that the areas of Purvanchal have received more rain. Therefore, the officials there have been instructed to pay special attention that whatever is necessary should be done appropriately.

Swachhta Pakhwada begins from 17th

Urban Development Minister AK Sharma said that Swachhta Pakhwada is being started from September 17. He directed the officers to work with sincerity to make the Swachhta Pakhwada a success. He said that regular cleaning should be done from 5 am to 8 am in all the municipal bodies of the state. After that, the officers and local councilors should carry out a cleanliness drive with the general public. During this 15-day campaign, the officers were also instructed to go to the districts and test them. Said that every officer should choose a city. Take stock of the activities during the 15 days. He directed all the executive officers to upload the works being done at the level of their municipal bodies on the NaMo app and website as well.

He especially directed the Municipal Commissioners of Lucknow and Kanpur to pay special attention to water logging. Cleanliness through public participation

The Urban Development Minister said that after October 2, a clean and shining Uttar Pradesh has to be offered to the people. For this everyone’s efforts are needed. He said that Vulnerable Garbage Points – those public places like footpaths, street side, vacant plots where garbage has been collected should be identified in all the bodies. Special cleanliness drives should be conducted for these places with public participation. He directed to beautify the intersections in the municipal bodies, complete the work of beautification from Amrit Sarovar to other works on time.

Emphasis on five-point tasks

Minister AK Sharma said that now to make all the urban bodies good-to-great, work will have to be done seriously. For this, work has been asked to work under a five-point program. First, instructions have been given to pay special attention to cleanliness in all urban bodies from 5.00 am, cleaning commercial places, commercial establishments, public places more than twice. Along with this, proper cleanliness should be done in the streets and localities of all the cities and towns. Second, all the intersections of urban bodies should be beautified. Undeveloped intersections should be developed and beautified. Thirdly, horticulture, gardens, parks should be developed in the cities and towns by cleaning the dirty places, garbage places, empty plots which are marked as vanrebul garage points. Fourthly, under the urban bodies, undeveloped / incomplete parks and gardens should be developed and beautified. Fifth nectar lakes should be fully developed and made useful for the common man. Its instructions are given.

Executive officers will also be honored

Minister AK Sharma directed to honor the municipal bodies of the state as well as the executive officers of the state. Said that officers doing good work should also be honored. For this, instructions have been given to prepare the framework after October 2. 377 municipal bodies of UP are participating in the Indian Cleanliness League starting from September 17. Minister AK Sharma directed the municipal bodies that did not register in this league to participate in the competition at the state level. He said that even though they are not joining the league, but these activities will be done at their level also. It will be reviewed at the state level.

STP will open for students

Principal Secretary  Amrit Abhijat suggested opening of STP plants of Ghaziabad and Agra for engineering students during this period. With this, people will get an opportunity to visit the STP plant and understand its working. He informed that a special campaign is being conducted at the state level regarding single use plastic. Under this, action is also being taken against those who use single-use plastic continuously.

Local Bodies Director  Neha Sharma said that 754 Amrit Sarovars have been identified for beautification at the level of municipal bodies in Uttar Pradesh. them

He gave information about the Indian Cleanliness League. Told that it is being started from 17 September. More than 1800 cities across the country are participating in it. To make this successful, instructions have been issued to all the municipal bodies. In this virtual meeting, Secretary Ranjan Kumar, Deputy Director Smt. Rashmi Singh, Deputy Director Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav, Additional Director Dr. Aslam Ansari along with other dignitaries were also present.
