Urgent attention required to stem dropout of girl child from schools: Anandiben Patel

Lucknow: State Governor Anandiben Patel inspected Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya located at Nandpur, Chinhat in Lucknow. In the school, the Governor inaugurated the newly equipped projector and computer room. In the new computer room, 10 computers have been installed for the girl students and a projector attached to the computer has been installed in the form of a projector.

The Governor inquired about the cooperation of the girl students in running projectors and computer in educational work. District Magistrate  Suryapal Gangwar informed that at present 80 girls are studying in this school. The school has a system of education from class 6 to 8.

On this occasion, various cultural programs, musical programs like Saraswati Vandana, songs on Mission Shakti and welcome songs were presented by the girl students of the school.

Interacting in the program, the Governor said that the conduct and presentation of activities in each program should be taught to the girl students.

She said that for the talent development of the girl students, they should be associated with various activities. Suggesting that the music programs should be held continuously throughout the year, the Governor said that a team of girl students proficient in music singing and playing should be developed in the school and priority should be given to the presentation of the girl students of the school during the school programs.

She also asked to decorate the walls of the school with the art works of the girl students.

She said that the display of good art-works would generate healthy competition among other girl students and also develop artistic interests in them.

During the inspection, the Governor also took information from the girl students about their health and nutrition. The warden of the hostel  Nidhi presented the register of regular health check-up of girl students before the Governor and gave health related information.

Discussing the educational of girl students, the Governor asked about effective work to prevent drop-out in the education of girls. She said that follow-up should be taken of the drop-outs at the time of admission in classes 6 to 7 and admission in classes 7 to 8 and contact the parents of the drop-out girls for their education.

She said that the school should fulfill the purpose of its establishment.

Taking special information about the upcoming education system of the girls who have completed their education up to class eight in Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya, the Governor discussed things threadbare.

She said that 100 percent recruitment should be ensured in other schools for the further education of girl students who have passed class VIII.

She directed the Basic Education Officer,  Arun Kumar, to provide training to the teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya to inform them about the necessary action for the recruitment process for further education of girls after class VIII.

She said that in this session, 100 percent information about the recruitment of all the girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya till class VIII of Lucknow district in Class IX should be sent to the Raj Bhavan.

The District Magistrate informed the Governor that there are eight blocks in Lucknow district and there is a school in each block. He assured the Governor that soon this process would be started and arrangements for admission would be made.

The Governor also called for immediate attenmtion towards the lack of greenery in the school. She said that not only in Lucknow, greenery should be developed by planting trees on a large scale in the premises of Kasturba Gandhi schools in all the districts of the state.

She also called for planting flowering plants along with big trees in the school.

The importance of tree plantation in environmental protection was also discussed with the girls.

She also asked to mark the QR code on the trees, in which all the information related to the tree would be available. The Governor also discussed about proper nutrition of girls, hemoglobin test, vaccination to prevent cervical cancer.

Inviting all the girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya in the district to visit the Raj Bhavan, she also asked them to get involved in activities outside the school premises.

During the school visit, the governor not only informed the girl students about the importance of coarse cereals, but also provided nutritional packets and other materials.

District Magistrate  Suryapal Gangwar, CDO . Riya Kejriwal, BSA  Arun Kumar along with officers and teachers of Basic Education Department and Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya were present on this occasion.
