Uttar Pradesh Government revises budget for schools to help parents buy stationary without difficulty
Lucknow: Now parents of government school students will not have to run from pillar to post to arrange for copy, pencil for their wards. In this session, the state government will give money for uniform, sweater, shoes and socks as well as stationery and pencil.
For this Rs 100 will be given as DBT. There is a preparation to pay 1200 rupees instead of 1100 rupees. Till now parents had to spend their own money for copy-pencil. In some places, teachers used to provide copy-pencils through their personal efforts, but now the government is going to give 100 rupees separately for this.
Twenty two crore children will get benefit out of this this.
In this regard, the Basic Education Department has sent a proposal to the government. About two and a half crore children will get the benefit of this.
Children will also be able to buy pens with copy-pencils. In this Rs 100, students will have to buy four copies, two pencils, two pens, two erasers and two sharpeners. Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, free textbooks and exercise books are provided, but copies were required in large classes.
Last year, the state government had given Rs 600 for two pairs of uniforms, Rs 170 for school bags, Rs 125 for shoes and socks and Rs 200 for sweaters i.e. a total of Rs 1100 was given through DBT in the account of parents.
The central government gives six hundred rupees and the state government gives 500 rupees now.
Out of this, only Rs 600 is given from the budget of the central government, the rest Rs 500 is given by the state government from its budget. In the last session, the government had transferred Rs 1800 crore through DBT.
