Uttar Pradesh ramps up facilities to deal with dialysis rush
Lucknow: Beds are being increased in government hospitals so that those undergoing dialysis do not have to run from pillar to post. 126 dialysis beds have been increased in 25 government hospitals of the state. These include state capital Lucknow, PM Yogi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi and CM Yogi’s Gorakhpur and other districts.
Patients suffering from severe kidney problems require dialysis. Due to shortage of dialysis beds in hospitals, they either have to wait for a long time or are forced to undergo dialysis in private hospitals at an expensive rate.
In such a situation, the number of dialysis beds is being increased in the state. So far 662 beds with dialysis facilities were available in all 75 districts. With the addition of 126 new dialysis beds, the total number now stands at 788.
The number of people undergoing dialysis is continuously increasing in the state. The figures of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana are testifying to this. Under the scheme, till January 31, 5 lakh 26 thousand 862 dialysis has been done in the state.
