Lucknow: In the third innovation index of NITI Aayog, Haryana is at third and Uttar Pradesh is at seventh place. Karnataka topped for the third time in a row. NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman Berry released the index report. UP has now moved up two places in the India Innovation Index-2021. Its rank has come down from 9th to 7th in all the states. This has come to the fore in the India Innovation Index 2021 report released by NITI Aayog on Thursday. The highest score (40.80) in the country was obtained by Uttar Pradesh in creating business environment. This has been made possible by an improvement in the overall business environment, increasing number of clusters, manufacturing and services sector growth.
UP is among the top five states in the knowledge-output category. This high score is a result of growth in start-ups and new businesses. Abhishek Prakash, CEO, Invest UP said- Innovation entrepreneurship is extremely important for the success of ‘Make-in-India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ programmes, we are committed to create an innovation-friendly environment, so that start- Ups, manufacturing and service sectors can be further encouraged.
Uttar Pradesh has scored higher than the national average of 5.81 in knowledge diffusion with a score of 6.18 in the India Innovation Index for IT-related exports. The India Innovation Index prepared by NITI Aayog and Institute of Competitiveness ranks states and union territories on the basis of their innovation performance. India Innovation Index 2020 had 36 benchmarks. This time it is 66 (India Innovation Index in 2021). These new standards are based on manpower/human resources, investment, knowledge workers, business environment, security and legal environment, knowledge-output and knowledge-diffusion.
