Uttar Pradesh to observe International Women’s day as a celebration

Lucknow: International Women’s Day  will be celebrated as a celebration in the entire state this year. Under this, various programs will be organized in the districts till March 8. The programs have been designed keeping in mind this year’s theme – “DigitalAll – Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

It aims to create awareness about the critical role of innovation, technological change and education in the digital age for the empowerment and gender equality of all women and girls. This will also create awareness among them about their rights.

Sarneet Kaur Broka, Director of Women’s Welfare Department, has also sent a letter in this regard to all the district magistrates of the state. According to the letter, digital technology also provides immense opportunities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals targeted for Progress-2030. Keeping this in mind, this time on the occasion of International Women’s Day, activities were decided from March 1 to 8. Under this, “Hum Mein Hai Dum” program was organized in the districts on March 1 and 2. Under this program, the society was made aware of those women who struggled with the stereotypes and prejudices of the society and became a source of inspiration for themselves or other women in the society through self-initiated innovations, use of technology or digital education. A social media campaign was also launched for this. On Friday (March 03) “Aasmaan Hai Aage” program will be organized. Under this, discussions will be held on the challenges of digital education and self-reliance with adolescent girls and women at the level of schools, colleges, universities, anganwadis, women’s shelters, girl’s homes and protection homes etc. in rural and urban areas.

On March 4, “Gupshup Lunch” will be organized for the inspiring women (non-political) of the community in the presence of public representatives. A grand ceremony will be organized by including local arts and artists in the event. On March 5, district-level seminars and conferences will be organized on the subject of gender equality at the workplace.

Administrative officers and experts will be invited in the events. Mega event “Anantha” will be organized on 6th March. Under this, inspirational stories of women trying to bring change in the society, such as using innovations, technology or digital education, to bring change in the society or their lives, at the district level on TV, Radio, FM, Community Radio, Talk shows etc. Will be broadcast to the public through the medium.

In this, inspiring stories of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, change agents, social workers or women who have struggled with the stereotypes and prejudices of the society and lead a successful life can also be included. These women from rural and urban areas will also be honored by organizing a program at the district level. Auspicious Holi program will be organized on March 7 or 8 according to the convenience.

Public representatives, District Magistrate, Chief Development Officer, Commissioner of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police and senior officers of other departments will participate in this programme. Photographs and other material of the events of all these programs will be circulated through the Twitter handles of the Women’s Welfare Department and other officials.
