Dehradun/ Lucknow: From the time news broke that Pushkar Singh Dhami is the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, there have been multiple reports of how he has a srong connect with the city of Nawabs.
Interestingly the CM has a strong connect with Lucknow and Lucknow University. Dhami has been a student of Lucknow University and did his BA from here. He once resided in Room number 119 of Narendra Dev Hostel which used to be his abode. Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai congratulated his alumnus on becoming the Chief Minister by tweeting.
On Saturday, when Pushkar Singh Dhami’s name was decided for the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, there was a wave of happiness among people who studied and grew up with him in Lucknow University. Dhami has been active in student politics since the beginning.
He joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1994 after taking admission in BA. From the unit president, he has also worked in many important positions in the organization. Along with this he got involved in student politics. Because then ABVP was participating in the active politics of the student union.
Deepak Agnihotri, an alumnus of LU who was in ABVP with Dhami has told a media outlet that his nature was quite simple. He lived in harmony with everyone. Even his opponents were convinced of his nature.
BJP leader and LU alumnus Tarunkant Tripathi, Ramaranjan Upadhyay, Dr. Nilesh Singh and others have also expressed happiness over Dhami becoming the Chief Minister.
Dhami is the second student of Lucknow University to become the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Earlier, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who was a student here, also became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
Many alumni of Lucknow University have reached the top of politics. These include former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Surjit Singh Barnala, Arif Mohammad, Shivpal Singh Yadav etc.
