Lucknow: The ten-day Uttarakhand Mahotsav is starting with full grandeur on 31st October at Gomti Riverfront, Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Hill Cultural Park, Birbal Sahni Marg (near Khatu Shyam Temple). It will be inaugurated in the traditional manner by the hands of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami at 04.00 pm.
Chief Minister Dhami will be welcomed by 500 artists in their traditional attire by showering flowers and the Chholiya troupe from Uttarakhand will enthusiastically show various tricks and play melodious tunes with their musical instruments.
Addressing the press conference, Chairman Harish Chandra Pant said that this year the Uttarakhand Gaurav honor will be given to Chandan Singh Nayal who is doing remarkable work in the field of environment.
General Secretary Bharat Singh Bisht said in his statement that during the festival, the annual souvenir of Uttarakhand General Council ‘Uttarakhand Darpan’ will also be released. The General Council has also made special arrangements for buses for the arrival of spectators from different areas of Lucknow.
Convenor Diwan Singh Adhikari said that every year it gives immense pleasure to organize a huge ten-day festival on the Gomti Riverfront of Lucknow and this year we are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee year. He said the uttarakhand Mahotsava is enjoyed not only by the people of Uttarakhand living in Lucknow, but also by people of every society in entire Lucknow.
There are 250 stalls of various items set up in the festival, all of which have already been booked before October 1, 2023. In these stalls, there will be food stalls along with pulses of Uttarakhand, herbal juice, Kashmiri shawls, carpets manufactured by handicraftsmen and self-help groups of many states and sweets will also be available.
Secretary Rajesh Bisht has worked very hard in promoting the festival in Lucknow through various mediums like radio, hoardings, LEDs etc. For various tasks, work has been distributed to the teams of Uttarakhand General Council and there is a tight arrangement for the festival security.
In the courtyard of Sunder Manch, beautiful paintings have been made by the women’s cell, bringing alive the rangoli and folk styles of the mountains.
Media in-charge Rajendra Singh Kanwal told that every day from 02:00 pm many competitions – Jhoda, Kids Fashion Show, Dance, Poetry Conference, Essay, Painting, Singing, Instrumental, Chair Race, Seminars etc. will be organized.
Puran Singh Jeena has worked very hard to curate a special interesting competition of Dance Uttarakhand Dance, in which 21 groups will participate, who will perform on 120 songs. Kumaoni Garhwali Jaunsari and Shoka songs and dances have been included in the Dance Uttarakhand Dance and Voice of Uttarakhand competition.
Selected cultural groups from different provinces and cultural groups from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will also present their cultural programs.
