V Business, the enterprise arm of leading telecom service provider Vodafone Idea Limited, announced a partnership with Triliant®, a world-class provider of utility solutions for advanced metering and smartgrid systems. This partnership will leverage the combined domain expertise of WeBusiness and Triliant to build and implement integrated IoT solutions for advanced metering infrastructure in India.
This partnership will strengthen the Government’s Digital India mission and bring about a paradigm shift in the power distribution sector by converting the targeted 250 million electricity meters into smart meters across the country.
The synergy between the two sides will lead to enhanced connectivity, cloud and HES with managed services, enabling Master System Integrators (MSIs)/Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers to make sustainable delivery of critical SLAs for AMI projects in India. As part of this partnership with Trilliant, We Business will utilize its world-class experience in Unity Suite Head End System (HES) that will enable daily meter reading and interval data, compliant with IS 15959. Under this partnership, DISCOMs will be able to ensure complete transparency in operations and SLA management for network and complex AMI projects.

Under the existing Smart Meter National Programme, 250 million conventional meters will be replaced with smart meters in India. Smart meters are connected through a web-based monitoring system (ie HES), thereby reducing utility losses, increasing efficiency, increasing revenue as well as promoting reforms in the power sector. The adoption of IoT is critical for the digital transformation goals of large enterprises, especially power distribution companies, which suffer huge AT&C losses every year. Most of the AMI stakeholders are working with the silos, due to which the discoms are not able to avail the benefits of AMI.
