Vaccination of prisoners in Uttar Pradesh to be done on a priority basis

Lucknow: Honorable Member Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission OP Dixit and Justice KP Singh have given instructions to the Chief Secretary, UP Government to provide information about the vaccination of prisoners within four weeks.

He said that according to the guidelines (guide lines) of the Central Government / Uttar Pradesh Government, people with severe diseases between  45 years and 60 years have to be vaccinated against corona virus. There must be such prisoners in the jails of Uttar Pradesh who are eligible for vaccination under this category.

At present, action must be taken regarding vaccination of prisoners in various jails of the state. Taking suo motu cognizance in this case, the commission wants information that how many such eligible prisoners are in various jails of Uttar Pradesh and how many of them are being vaccinated for the first time.

Therefore, it is not only necessary to vaccinate the above category of prisoners to protect against corona virus at these places, but it is also the basic human right of the life of the prisoners. Therefore, instructions are given to the Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow that after the action taken in this matter, he should ensure to make available his compiled report to the Commission in the coming week.
