Varanasi: Once an ancient temple town, now a City of Global Appeal
Lucknow: With the aim of preserving and promoting the cultural diversity of Varanasi globally, an MoU was signed between the Government of India and the Department of Culture, U.P. Lucknow Union Minister for Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Central External Affairs Minister at the International Museum Expo organized at Pragati Maidan,today with the aim of preserving the ancient heritage and cultural diversity and promoting it globally.
In the august presence of Minister of State for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, an MoU was signed between the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and the Department of Culture, Uttar Pradesh on Development for Spaces. The MoU was signed by Mugdha Sinha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Amarnath Upadhyay, Special Secretary and Nodal Officer, Culture Department, on behalf of Uttar Pradesh.
Nodal Officer and Regional Archaeological Officer Varanasi Subhash Yadav was also present on this occasion. Giving information about the purpose of this memorandum of understanding, Special Secretary Culture, Uttar Pradesh, Amarnath Upadhyay said that under this the cultural diversity, food habits, costumes, cultural values of all the cities, especially the ancient religious and cultural city of Varanasi, will be preserved.
To present to the world. Apart from this, the folk genres which have reached the verge of extinction will be protected. Along with this, an annual calendar of festivals, festivals, fairs etc. of these cities will also be prepared, so that the visitors of the country and abroad can get complete information in this regard.
He told that with this MoU, activities related to cultural and religious tourism will be promoted especially in Uttar Pradesh. Officers and other personnel of Uttar Pradesh Culture Department and Ministry of Culture, Government of India were present on this occasion.
