Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association President Viraj Sagar Das and General Secretary Dr.Andeshwar Pandey have made several important suggestions in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to help in improving diet of sportspersons living in various sports colleges and hostels in Uttar Pradesh.
Recently, the letter sent to the Chief Minister through an e-mail in this order mentions that 44 sports hostels are run in 16 sports in 19 districts along with the three sports colleges in the state. In these, the expenditure of Rs. 250 per player per day is paid on the dietary requirements of the players.
There are more than 2000 boys and girls players all over these places. Many of them are international level and also many national medalists who belong to poor families.
All the players have returned to their respective homes due to the shutdown of sports activities from March 2020 due to the corona infection. At the same time, many have left the practice due to lack of facilities for sports practice in villages or d2istricts and lack of proper diet.
Viraj Sagar Das and General Secretary Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey suggested that the way money is being sent to the students ‘account under the Food Security Act in the government schools under the Mid-Day-Meal Scheme, in the same way, the money should also be sent to the players’ account. If it is not possible to send the entire money, then half of the amount fixed for diet money i.e. 125 per player per day can be sent to the hostel and sports college players account.
