Vishal Bhardwaj’s son is all grown up, steps into his dad’s shoes with Kuttey

Mumbai: Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj announced his multi-starrer production KUTTEY, which stars Arjun Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah, Tabu and Radhika Madan.

Produced in association with filmmaker Luv Ranjan, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Vishal Bhardwaj’s son Aasmaan Bhardwaj.

KUTTEY also stars Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bharadwaj of Ib Alle Ooo! fame. The official Instagram page of Vishal Bhardwaj Films shared the teaser of the film’s announcement.

Kuttey, written by Aasmaan and Vishal Bhardwaj, has been pegged as a caper-thriller. The film is currently in its pre-production stage and will start shooting in late 2021. Akash has completed his graduation in filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts, NYC and assisted his father in 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola and Pataakha. .

Vishal Bhardwaj described KUTTEY as “extremely special” as it marks his first collaboration with his son. “I’m excited to see what he does with it. Luv Films and Vishal Bhardwaj Films are also coming together for the first time and I am extremely excited about this association as I really admire Luv’s brave approach towards filmmaking and strong business sense. ”

He said, “I have worked with Naseer Sahab, Tabu, Konkona and Radhika in different films throughout my career and Aasmaan has brought them all together in one film. We can’t wait for the audiences to watch this thrilling thriller on the big screen.”

Rajan said Bharadwaj’s vision of storytelling has been very inspiring for him. “It gives me immense pleasure that I am getting a chance to collaborate with him for Aakash’s film.” The film’s music will be composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, with lyrics penned by Gulzar. Kuttey will be presented by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. Vishal Bhardwaj’s wife, singers Rekha Bhardwaj and Ankur Garg are also credited as producers of the film.

The film will mark Vishal Bhardwaj’s first collaboration with Kapoor, whose last release was Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. The filmmaker had previously directed Madan in the 2018 drama Pataakha, Shah in the acclaimed 2003 Maqbool and Sen Sharma in Omkara (2006). He has also worked with Tabu in films like Maqbool and Haider.
