Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files getting shortlisted for the Oscars

The Kashmir Files by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri proves it’s merit by getting shortlisted for the Oscars

Mumbai: 2022 has been a challenging year for the Indian film industry, but for Bollywood, it was out and out of suffering. Several films were finding it hard to survive at the box office and were not able to meet the audience’s expectations. Last year, hardly any film has made a profitable business at the box office. Films such as Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, Ajay Devgan’s Drishyam 2, and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 were the only successful grosser from Bollywood that could leave their mark at the box office.

Director of the film Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri says “I am glad that the Kashmir files has been shortlisted for the oscars 2023. Although, I am out of this award race but this recognition on International level is surely a tight slap to all the people who called it Propaganda. I am happy that now the world is recognising the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide. It is a step further in our mission.”

Apparently, the highest-grosser of Bollywood, The Kashmir Files, had to face a lot of criticism, backlash, and hatred from several people. One being, Israeli director and jury chairperson of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Nadav Lapid called ‘The Kashmir Files’ “vulgar and propaganda”. But despite all the odds the film faced, it is being recognized and shortlisted as top 5 Indian films at Oscar Awards. The Oscars and Academy awards are the world’s most prestigious and well-accepted by the global audience. For ‘The Kashmir Files’ to make into the top 5 Indian movie along with RRR, Kantara, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Rocketry – The Nambi Effect is like a tight slap on all the faces who criticized the film and tried establishing that the film has propaganda.

The Bollywood movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ has been shortlisted for Oscars, 2023. The maker of the film Vivek Agnihotri informed about the selection as he took to social media saying, “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

It’s one of the 5 films from India. I wish all of them very best. A great year for Indian cinema. 🙏🙏🙏”
