Voracious readers look to stir up their spiritual self through books at Lucknow Book Fair
Lucknow: Heavy rains not withstanding, the steady stream of book lovers continued in the Lucknow Book Fair going on at Rabindralaya Charbagh. Some programs to be held in the cultural pandal were definitely postponed, but the purchase of books continued in this fair which continues till March 26.
I close my eyes to see everything – Paul Gauguin; Small rivers make noise but the ocean remains calm – Gautam Buddha; Great love and great achievements also have to take great risks – Dalai Lama, do what you want to do, don’t think what people will say because people will say even when you do nothing – Osho. Book buyers were seen searching for spiritual books in the fair to take inspiration from innumerable such scriptures.
People flipping through books like Paramahansa Yogananda’s Mental Disturbance Causes and Remedy, Art of Living, To Be Victorious in Life at the stall of Yogda Satsang Society were eager to know his spiritual stand. At the stall of Ramakrishna Math, the interest of youth especially in the literature of Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Vivekananda was shown.
On the stall of Osho Tapoban, who came from Kathmandu, there are about two hundred books like Meditation Yoga…, Osho Meditation Science, Osho’s Search in Busy Life and Ashtavakra Mahagita, along with Osho’s famous Sambhoga to Samadhi. Apart from this, there are countless books related to spirituality, religion and philosophy on other stalls as well.
Under Vishwam Mahotsav, dance and singing on the G-20 theme of the fair was presented by the youth and children under the leadership of Rehan Siddiqui of Wings Foundation. Nitin Bharti, Aaradhya Pandey, Shipra Srivastava, Arya, Amoli, Ritu, Priya gave their performances in this. After this an open mic session was organized in which singing, poetry recitation and dance were presented by Ankita, Ujjwal, Rajneesh, Shailendra, Priyanshu, Unnati, RG Gupta, Hariom Narayan.
After the rains stopped, Manish Shukla’s collection of poetry ‘Nilambit Maun Ke Swar’ was released by Shilpayan Books and the book was discussed. Dr. Amita Dubey reviewed Om Nirav’s memoir book Kabhi Kabhi, Dr. Rama Jain Agarwal reviewed short story collection Shilalekh, reviewed short story collection Shilalekh by Dr. Amita Dubey at the review function organized by Kavita Lok Srijan Sansthan. Saxena, Dr. Shivmangal Singh Mangal reviewed the poetry collection Chhandanand and Rajendra Shuk Raj presented the review of Lakshan Granth Chand Vigyan in front of the audience. The fair is being organized by Force One Books in association with Trade Mitra, Join Hands Foundation, Kiran Foundation, Origins etc.
