Vote in Civic polls to live up to the ideals of the Constitution: Mayawati

Lucknow: In the upcoming two-phase urban local body elections in Uttar Pradesh, BSP chief Mayawati urged citizens to support her party by casting their ballots, emphasising that they should do so while also respecting their rights and constitutional duties. Votes will be tallied on May 13 after the civic elections, which are scheduled for May 4 and May 11.

“Although the opposition parties have continuously used various gimmicks for the first phase of the UP civic elections, to be held on May 4,” Mayawati said in a tweet in Hindi. “Voters should cast their votes by being honest to the ideals of the Constitution.”

“… for this election as well, the BJP and other opposition parties have stopped at nothing to make alluring claims and empty promises, but the electorate should not be mislead by them. In another tweet, she urged everyone to support BSP candidates for the sake of the area’s growth and prosperity. Tuesday night will mark the conclusion of the first round of election campaigning.
