According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rains at different places in eastern UP. Apart from this, rain is expected in the capital Lucknow as well.
Red alert issued for rain in 9 districts

Earlier, on the other hand, the air quality index in most of the cities of the state was in the ‘good to satisfactory’ category.

It was generally estimated to arrive on June 1, but now four days later its arrival has been predicted on June 4. The IMD said it has been issuing monsoon onset dates over Kerala since 2005. Last year, the monsoon over Kerala arrived on May 29, two days after the IMD’s prediction of May 27. Monsoon onset date predictions over Kerala during the last 18 years (2005–2022) proved correct except in 2015. That is, there is a possibility of monsoon coming in UP by June 4.
