Lucknow: During the special enforcement drive from 29.05.21 to 12.06.2021, 3720 cases were registered and 1,33,168 litres of illicit liquor seized. 1,33,168 litres of illicit liquor was recovered and 1396 persons arrested with 31 vehicles seized.
The action was taken in compliance with the orders given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Ram NareshAgnihotri, Excise Minister. A special enforcement drive was carried out to prevent the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor in the state from 29.05.21 to 12.06.21.
Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Excise has informed that during the drive, raids were conducted at suspected places by the joint teams of Excise, Police and Administration. Stock of the licensed shops as well as the bar code and QR code on the liquor bottles were verified. During this period,3720 cases were registered in the state whereas1,33,168litres of illicit liquor was recovered and 4,57,311kg lahan used in preparing illicit liquor was destroyed on the spot.
Along with it, 1396 persons involved in the illegal act were arrested and 31 vehicles were also seized. The Additional Chief Secretary has said that in the previous week, during a raid in Lucknow district, 300 liters of denatured spirit along with 500 bottles of 200 ml and 40 bottles of 500 ml sanitizers and a large quantity of labels were recovered, one person was arrested and an FIR was lodged at Nishatganj police station under various sections of the Excise Act, Drugs and cosmetics Act and IPC.
In Chandauli district, 04 cases of illicit country liquor, 750 liters of illegal spirit, 30 liters of illegal country liquor and large quantities of wrappers, QR codes, empty bottles and other equipment were recovered. In the proceeding, a Tata Magic loader and a Hyundai car were also recovered from the spot and a case was filed against 06 persons at Alinagar Police Station under Excise Act and IPC. In district Meerut a case was registered against 03 persons under relevant sections of Excise Act and IPC while 50 bottles of Royal Stag foreign liquor brand were recovered.
In Bulandshahar district, 130 quintals of molasses and a tanker were recovered from a factory located on Gulavathi Road and a case was lodged against two persons under relevant sections of the Molasses Control Act Excise Act and IPC. In district GautamBudhha Nagar,3549.24 liters of foreign liquor in 399 cases were recovered from an Eicher container whereas01 person was arrested and an FIR was lodged under Excise Act.
It was further informed by the Additional Chief Secretary that the raids against the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor would continue and the people involved in these activities would not be spared under any circumstances. Regular checking shall also beconducted at Excise shops and strict action will be taken against the shop as per rules if irregularities are found.
