Lucknow: In keeping with the popular notion that Kanpur will break the records of even the Lucknow Metro, the UPMRC is gearing up for a trial run which is tentatively scheduled for November 2021 and could very well open for the general public by January 2022
In the 9 km stretch between IIT to Motijheel under Kanpur Metro Project, the construction of the long utility corridor is underway, under which 9 metro stations (all upstream) are to be built.
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) team is engaged in the construction work of this corridor day and night so that the Metro services can be provided to the citizens within the stipulated time frame.
In this sequence, the Managing Director of UP Metro, Kumar Keshav reviewed the work being done on the Metro corridor. Starting from 8.30 am Keshav inspected the route between Motijheel to Kanpur IIT and praised the construction work being done by Metro engineers at a fast pace.
During his inspection, the Managing Director advised the team of Metro Engineers that the areas where traffic is high under the utility corridor should be disposed of in the first place so that the general public is least inconvenienced. He also advised the metro engineers to do further planning of the metro stations in such a way that maximum utilization of available space is made and to provide maximum convenience to the people after the introduction of Metro services in future.
During the inspection of the Metro Corridor, Kumar Keshav addressing the team of engineers, general consultants and contractors of UP Metro said, “By November 2021, the entire 9 km. Keeping in mind the goal of ensuring the trial run of the metro on the long corridor, make a strategy of work and take special care that the public has minimal inconvenience due to the metro work. In addition, he also said that soon all the systems (such as electrical and fire etc.) required for metro operations in Kanpur and laying of tracks will be started, whose preparations are going on in full swing.
In Kanpur on November 15, 2019 the civil construction work of Kanpur Metro was launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after which the engineers of UP Metro have maintained the pace of construction work of the project continuously.
