Lucknow: Eye health awareness has become a much needed aspect in health and wellness of a person. Keeping that need in mind, the Lucknow Book Fair has brought a special Kumbh of eyecare called OptiKumbh2021 which is part of the Lucknow Book Fair. The OptiKumbh is a small scale event at the Book Fair but it is a movement where 25 to 30 doctors are part of regular checkups of people across age groups to carry out full checkups.
At OptiKumbh, doctors on duty are checking power, the internal eye issues and impact on vision due to optical ailments. 80% of the sensory organs are dependent on the working of the eye and estimates suggest that eye problems are leading to a loss of 37 billion dollars in India.
The Kumbh comes at a time when the world celebrates the World Glaucoma week. The World Glaucoma week is organized under the watch of WHO. If people are 40 or less or 10 plus then they should get their eyes checked in comprehensive manner. If one is 40 to 60 years old they should get the eyes checked in 3 years and if one is above 60, he should get eyes checked in one year. People are being tested with state-of-the-art machines like auto reflectometer, lensometer and slit lamp, along with giving various information of eye examination.
In a smart city, a smart citizen needs to have perfect vision. Health is an attitude which needs to be respected, says Neharika Rastogi, Optometrist.
