Lucknow: The ‘Women Employment Generation Program’ launched under the ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign for the safety, respect, self-reliance and income generation of women and girls is proving to be a ray of hope for the livelihood of women entrepreneurs. For this purpose, sugar industry and sugarcane development department has formed women self-help groups for sugarcane cultivation in 4726.27 hectares through single bid chip and so far Rs 1286.84 lakh grant has been distributed to women self-help groups has also been done.
Giving detailed information in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that during the Corona period, when most of the people belonging to rural environment are unable to come to the city and work for livelihood, in such odd circumstances, the villagers, Women entrepreneurs are getting employment at the local level through single bid chip program of Sugarcane Development Department, while on the other hand, family members of women self-help groups are also getting employment through this program.
Giving data related to the progress of this program, Bhoosreddy said that so far 2,111 women self-help groups have been formed in 36 sugarcane-dominated districts of the state, out of which 45,491 are from rural areas. Women entrepreneurs are registered. Out of which 36,924 women entrepreneurs have been trained.
The women belonging to these groups have been trained by the department to prepare seedlings of single bid chip. So far 10.92 crore seedlings have been prepared by women’s groups, out of which sales of 9.38 crore seedlings have earned an income of about Rs.28 crore by women’s groups. Sugarcane nursery will yield an average income of Rs.59,000 per woman entrepreneur in one season. So far, about 9 lakh man-days of employment have been provided to the women of the state.
