Work on to boost sports infra under Khelo India National Sports Development Programme – Dr. Navneet Sehgal
Lucknow: Additional Chief Secretary Sports, Dr. Navneet Sehgal has given approval to send four proposals for the approval of the Government of India for increasing the sports infrastructure facilities in Bareilly and Jaunpur under the Khelo India “National Sports Development Programme”. Along with this, he has also given instructions to the Government of India to effectively monitor the proposals sent earlier.
In the meeting held at the office of the Additional Chief Secretary, Bapu Bhawan, approval was accorded to the proposal for construction of a synthetic running track at a cost of Rs 700 lakh at the Sports Stadium in Bareilly. Apart from this, approval has been given for sending 400 meters synthetic running track at a cost of Rs 733 lakh to a sports stadium established in Jaunpur, multipurpose sports hall at a cost of Rs 10 crore and a swimming pool at Rs 799 lakh for the approval of the Government of India
Facilities are being promoted so that sports talents come to the fore in the state
Dr. Sehgal said that special emphasis is being laid on increasing the infrastructure facilities so that sports talents come to the fore in the state. Sports facilities are being promoted especially in rural areas. Stadiums are being constructed in rural areas under Khelo India “National Sports Development Programme”. He said that importance is being given to organizing sports like football, volleyball, cricket, kabaddi etc. in the villages. The officials have been instructed to study the region-wise sports in which area which sport is popular among the people. On the basis of this, priority will be given in providing facilities related to that sport in those areas.
