Yogi govt to buy pulses and oilseeds from farmers till January, 2024

Lucknow :  The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has started the procurement of pulses (moong and urad) and oilseeds (groundnut and sesame) from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP) on Wednesday. The procurement process, which started on Wednesday, will continue until January, 2024. To participate, farmers are required to register online at the designated purchasing centres.

The state government will make the payments to farmers by crediting the money to their Aadhaar-linked accounts within three working days. The purchases will be made at the purchasing centres administered by PCF, PCU and Nafed, specifically in districts known for producing

urad, moong, groundnut, and sesame.

*Target to purchase over 2.96 lakh metric tons of urad*

The Yogi government has set the target of purchasing 2,96,400 metric tons of urad, 27,148 metric tons of groundnut, 15,538 metric tons of sesame, and 3,240 metric tons of moong. In addition to these targets, the Minimum Support Price has been set for these crops, with sesame priced at Rs 8,635 per quintal, moong at Rs 8,558 per quintal, urad at Rs 6,950 per quintal, and groundnut at Rs 6,377 per quintal.

*Govt will pay farmers within three days*

The government is committed to ensuring payments to farmers for their pulse and oilseed purchases within three working days. To facilitate this, it is essential for farmers to connect their bank accounts with their Aadhaar details. During the time of registration, farmers are required to provide their mobile numbers in addition to their Aadhar card information. It is crucial to note that the registration must be completed using the same mobile number that is linked to both their Aadhaar and bank account.

Furthermore, the name, father’s name and mobile number should also be the same in the Aadhaar and bank passbook. When these conditions are met, the Yogi government will ensure that farmers receive their payments in a transparent and timely manner.
